The strangest sports – man versus horse marathon!

The new strangest sports being so popular today is Man V Horse. Man versus Horse comes from the United Kingdom. The strange sports history started with a beer. One day in 1980, a landowner Gordon Green out of town Lanurtid Wells heard a pub argument between the two men. One of them stated on the fact that when running a long distance a person can outrun a horse. Enterprising Green decided to test this assertion, but at the same time he attracted potential investors to their land. So in the small town of England there was organized annual Man versus Horse Marathon.

As for the game rules wales marathon distance is 22 miles (42.195 km) and it passes through the countryside through fields, hills, creeks and swamps. Both an individual and a team can take part in the marathon. Horses stand in a pair with their riders. All contribute entry fee which later form the prize fund. Twenty-four consecutive years, the money won the rider and the horse, however, to the delight of all mankind, revenge was taken at the twenty-fifth year of existence of a marathon. In 2004, the Briton Hugh Lobb overcame distance in 2 hours 5 minutes and 19 seconds, for which he received 25 thousand pounds in prize money.

Wales marathon distance is slightly shorter than the traditional one: it is 22 miles instead of 26.2 (42, 195 km), but the race route takes place on uneven terrain. Long time riders held supremacy. Each year a prize athlete, which will overtake the horse has increased to £ 1000, but it took 24 years before the winner was a man. In 2004, Hugh Lobb won the marathon and received 25,000 pounds as a prize.

In 2007, the winner of the marathon became a man again. The name of the lucky runner is Florian Holtsinger (Germany). But the 2008 victory left the horse and its rider. Application for party-person cost about 20 pounds, the team of athletes was 55 pound rider and horse – 30 pounds. More information is available at Lanurtid Wells.

A 27-year-old runner from London for the first time in the history of the competition won the annual 35-kilo Marathon Man vs. horse. Previously, all 24 race, held on a special route in central Wales, was won by the horse.

However, this Saturday marathon Huv Lobb managed to finish first, breaking the marathon in two hours five minutes and nineteen seconds. The prize fund tournament is ₤ 25 million ($ 45.5 million). Odds of winning horse with the rider were taken this year at a ratio of sixteen to one.
